Self-service electric scooters: these cities that banned them

The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo is not the first to assert her opposition to the sustainable installation of free-floating electric scooters on her territory. Other cities in the region, in France, but also abroad have already said “no”, often for security reasons.

As soon as they arrive in the landscape new mobility, self-service electric scooters have been both adored and decried. Faced with their anarchic deployment in Paris, where they appeal to both young people, busy executives and tourists but pose problems of occupation of public space, Paris decided in 2019 to limit their number to 15,000 for 3 responsible operators.
